Let's Reduce Your Bills & Minimise Reliance on the Grid

solar panel installation kent ground mounted

When Charles first contacted Baird & Brown, he already had a clear vision of what he wanted to achieve.

The challenge wasn’t whether solar would work.

The challenge was where it would be installed.

Rather than placing solar panels on the roof of the property, Charles wanted a ground-mounted solar array located some distance away from the house.

This created additional considerations around system design, cable routing and installation, making it very different from a typical domestic solar project.

Like many customers, Charles wanted honest advice, clear recommendations and a solution that would work reliably for years to come.

Understanding The Challenge

Every property is different.

While many solar installations can be completed using existing roof space, some properties require a more tailored approach.

In this case, the preferred location for the solar array was away from the property itself, meaning the installation required careful planning and additional infrastructure to connect the system back to the home.

Rather than forcing a standard solution, we took the time to understand the site, the customer’s objectives and the practical challenges involved.

Our goal was simple:

Design the right solution for the property rather than trying to make the property fit a standard package.

Survey & Design

At Baird & Brown, every project begins with understanding the customer and the property.

Before making recommendations, we carried out a detailed survey and design process to assess:

  • The most suitable location for the solar array
  • Cable routing requirements
  • Trenching requirements
  • Property energy usage
  • Future energy requirements
  • Long-term system performance

By understanding the site in detail, we were able to develop a solution that balanced performance, practicality and long-term reliability.

Honest Advice & Independent Recommendations

One of the things Charles appreciated most throughout the project was the advice he received.

Rather than recommending the most expensive equipment or unnecessary upgrades, we discussed the available options, explained the advantages and disadvantages of each approach and helped him make informed decisions.

We believe customers should understand their choices and select the solution that is right for them.

Our role is to provide guidance, technical expertise and honest recommendations rather than pressure sales tactics.

As Charles later commented:

“There was absolutely no pressure to go for expensive options, in fact the reverse.”

For us, that perfectly reflects how we believe renewable energy projects should be delivered.

The Installation

Once the design had been agreed, our team completed the installation of the ground-mounted solar array and associated infrastructure.

This included the trenching and cable installation required to connect the array back to the property.

As with every project, attention was paid not only to system performance but also to the overall quality and presentation of the finished installation.

We believe workmanship matters.

A well-designed system should also be installed neatly, professionally and with long-term reliability in mind.

The Result

The completed system delivered exactly what the customer wanted.

The property now benefits from a professionally designed solar installation that works efficiently while making the best use of the available space on the site.

More importantly, the customer received a solution tailored specifically to the property rather than being forced into a standard design.

Reflecting on the project, Charles said:

“Philip and David have been so helpful, professional and a pleasure to deal with throughout.”

He also highlighted the team’s willingness to solve problems and adapt to the challenges presented by the site:

“They talked through the choices with us, always responded promptly to our questions, and found clever solutions to any difficulties.”

For us, that feedback is just as important as the technical success of the installation itself.
