Let's Reduce Your Bills & Minimise Reliance on the Grid

battery storage installation kent case study

By the time Tom contacted Baird & Brown, he had already carried out extensive research into solar panels and battery storage.

Like many homeowners exploring renewable energy, he had spent time understanding the available technologies, comparing options and considering what he wanted from a system.

He wasn’t looking for a sales pitch.

He wasn’t looking to be persuaded into buying the most expensive equipment available.

He wanted honest advice, clear communication and a system that would do exactly what he needed it to do.

Understanding The Customer's Requirements

One of the most common mistakes in the renewable energy industry is assuming that every customer wants the same thing.

The reality is that every homeowner has different priorities.

Some are focused on reducing energy bills.

Others are looking for energy independence, battery backup or electric vehicle charging.

In Tom’s case, he had already spent considerable time researching the available options and had a clear understanding of what he wanted from the system.

Our role was not to convince him to buy more equipment.

Our role was to listen.

By taking the time to understand his requirements, we were able to focus on designing a solution that matched his objectives rather than recommending unnecessary upgrades or additional products.

Survey & Design

At Baird & Brown, every project begins with understanding the customer and the property.

Before making recommendations, we considered:

  • Current electricity usage
  • Future energy requirements
  • Solar generation opportunities
  • Battery storage options
  • Long-term objectives
  • System performance expectations

This allowed us to recommend a solution that aligned with Tom’s goals and provided the functionality he was looking for.

The result was a system designed around the customer rather than a standard package.

Honest Advice & Clear Communication

One of the themes that runs throughout many of our customer reviews is communication.

Renewable energy systems can represent a significant investment, and customers should feel comfortable asking questions and understanding the options available to them.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with Tom to ensure every question was answered and every decision was fully understood.

Good communication isn’t something that ends when the quotation is accepted.

It remains important throughout the design, installation and post-installation process.

As Tom later commented:

“From the day I first contacted them for a quote their communication has been excellent, no question was too much trouble.”

For us, that’s exactly how every project should feel for the customer.

Professional Installation

Once the design had been agreed, our team completed the installation of the solar PV and battery storage system.

As with every project, attention was paid not only to system performance but also to the quality and presentation of the finished installation.

We believe a renewable energy installation should look as good as it performs.

The finished battery installation became one of our favourite project photographs, perfectly reflecting the customer’s personality while showcasing a neat and professional installation.

More importantly, the system delivered exactly what the customer had requested.

Ongoing Support

For us, completing an installation is not the end of the relationship.

We want customers to feel confident using their systems and understand how to get the best possible performance from them.

Following installation, we continued supporting Tom with system settings, optimisation and ongoing advice to ensure everything was operating as expected.

As Tom explained:

“Post installation, they have been supportive and aided me in adjusting settings and ensuring everything is running smoothly.”

This ongoing support is an important part of the service we provide.

The Result

The completed solar and battery storage system delivered exactly what the customer wanted.

Reliable performance.

Clear communication.

Professional workmanship.

And a solution tailored to his requirements rather than a standard package.

Reflecting on the project, Tom said:

“They ensured I received a system that does exactly what I need.”

For us, that sentence perfectly sums up the objective of every project we undertake.

What This Project Demonstrates

This project highlights the importance of listening to the customer.

Not every homeowner needs the biggest system.

Not every project requires the most expensive equipment.

Sometimes the most important thing is understanding exactly what the customer wants and designing a solution that delivers it.

By focusing on communication, honest advice and customer requirements, we were able to provide a system that met Tom’s expectations and continues to perform exactly as intended.
